- Reality Skill Loop
- The Reality Skill Loop has four stages: Look, Bearings, Next move and Reality check. After each Reality check, you continue, adjust or change course, and the loop starts again.
- Look
- The first stage of the Reality Skill Loop: describe the situation, desired result and starting explanation, then identify an important unknown and a question worth investigating.
- Bearings
- The second stage of the Reality Skill Loop: compare evidence and independent perspectives, distinguish observations from explanations and consider another way forward.
- Next move
- The third stage of the Reality Skill Loop: the owner chooses a test, a request for information, a decision or a pause. Name the responsible person, expected signal and Reality Date where useful.
- Reality check
- The fourth stage of the Reality Skill Loop: record what happened, what changed and what to do next. The result is not visible yet is a valid answer. Continue, adjust or change course.
- Focus Card
- A compact starting picture for Look in the Reality Skill Loop: the result wanted, current explanation, most important unknown and a question worth investigating. It is a starting hypothesis, not an approved diagnosis.
- The Reveal
- The moment in Bearings when separately recorded perspectives are compared with the owner’s starting view. Keep sources and disagreements visible; the owner retains decision authority.
- Reality Date
- An adjustable date chosen during Next move to return for a Reality check when useful evidence may be available. It is not a promise that the result will already be visible.
- Observation
- Something directly seen or measured, kept distinct from the interpretation drawn from it throughout the Reality Skill Loop.
- Explanation
- A working account of what observations mean. Bearings can support or challenge it; a later Reality check may change it.
