Clear roles, independent views

Investigate with your team.

The owner sets the direction. A manager can coordinate the investigation. People closer to the work contribute what they uniquely know.

The complete loop

Independent input informs the decision; it does not replace the decision owner.

01

Delegate a question rather than a preferred answer.

Name the result you want, the constraints that must be respected and the decision you will make after review. Ask the manager to compare plausible explanations, including yours. Make the brief small enough to finish: a defined flow, specific recent cases and a return date. The assignment is to improve the picture, not to prove that the owner or manager was right.

02

Ask people before they copy the room.

Invite separate observations from sales, operations, coordination or finance where relevant. Ask what each person saw, what they inferred and what evidence would change their view. Gather these before showing the leader’s preferred conclusion or an AI summary when practical. At reveal, preserve attribution, unique information and unresolved differences rather than reducing them to a vote.

03

Give the manager preparation rights and clear limits.

A manager can organise record requests, examine handoffs and return an evidence-linked recommendation. Define which actions they may take without further approval, what must return to the owner and what data they may access. Actual company workflow and advisor access depend on enabled workspace permissions; reading a demo does not grant them.

04

Make disagreement useful to execution.

When the owner and manager disagree, name the decision consequence and the observation that might distinguish their accounts. The owner can approve a bounded test, retain the objection in the record and name the person responsible for checking its result. Contributors should see how their evidence was used and have a route to report what changed during execution.
